Position Summary
S-NET Communications is looking for an aspiring Field Network Engineer (entry level) to help us deploy Cisco infrastructure to our Chicago-area clients. We provide Cisco routers, switches, and various brands of IP Phones to our clients and are looking for professionals to assist with the installation of our Hosted VoIP Services.
The individual hired for this role will be working under the direction of our Senior Technical Engineers and Project Managers. A majority of the work will be conducted on customer premises directly interacting with our end user clients. There will also be work required in our corporate office in Schaumburg assisting the support team and preparing systems for future installs.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing Cisco router and switch configurations for onsite installation
- Monitoring, supporting, and troubleshooting network and VoIP infrastructure environment
- Provisioning and deploying hosted VoIP phone systems to customer sites
- Providing end user training
- Driving to client locations for troubleshooting, installation and training
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong organization, time management and follow-up skills
- Self-starter, professional, resolution oriented, demonstrates initiative, resourcefulness, and strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently, as well as take instruction from team members
- Understanding of cloud infrastructure and strategies
- Knowledge of network routing and switching infrastructure technologies
- Basic knowledge of Voice over IP technologies
- Outstanding analytical ability with attention to detail
- Excellent back-office skills (Microsoft Word, Outlook Visio, and Excel)
- Outstanding analytical ability with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently, as well as take instruction from team members
- Demonstrated leadership and sense of project ownership
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance required
- Dependable transportation required
- Cisco networking experience is preferred
- Linux and Asterisk experience is a big plus
